Shortly after the release of the expansion I wrote this little story for my priest. It's semi-based off in game events, she recently learned she was pregnant and he was seduced to the dark whispers of the Lich king. I really hated playing the pregnancy card but she's the type of character who would learn to use a sword to get what she wants so I had to incapacitate her somehow because I did -not- want to re-roll another paladin. It's not really stated anywhere in the piece but they're both blood elves. He was once a blood knight she of course being a priest, long history together and is probably one of my most in depth character lines I've had. Feel free to post thoughts and comments. ^.^
The air was a deathly chill over the abandoned ruins of Zul’Aman. Lina stood a few feet away from Vinsynt, the cold air pushing the caramel strands of her hair and the loose fabric of her white silken robes into its grasp. Her heart was pounding in her chest, the air around her thick with emotion. “Vin... Don’t do this…” She spoke in a choked tone as she carelessly ran up to him and let her arms wrap around his waist, her fingers pressing tightly into his black and crimson plate armor. “I’m begging… please...” She whispered lowly against his back as her eyes closed, fighting off tears. His left hand loosened her grasp just enough to allow his body to turn and face her, his free hand tilting her gaze to meet his. “Alright” he spoke softly offering a reassuring smile. For a split second there was a sigh of relief and almost a moment of bliss, interrupted by the sound of his breath stopping suddenly. Shadow energy formed a portal beneath them, scourge magic, she knew. Inside her mind she could hear herself screaming but parting her lips her voice was nowhere to be heard. The words were at a loss to her as her fingers tightened around his waist feeling the shadows pull her away.
Falling completely through the portal the shadows eventually blackened her surroundings included the image of Vin. “Where is your Light now?” The lich kings voice echoed throughout the darkness as Lina’s body fell headfirst into the seemingly endless pit. Her hand rested against her stomach as the words played on her mind. Where was the Light in her worst time of need? Slowly her body flipped to its natural position as she closed her eyes forcing herself to focus. The gold trim along her robes glistened for a few moments as her eyes narrowed in a complete state of concentration. She knew what she was doing. Her fall came to a slow stop as her feet landed on stone floors. A ray of light shot through the ice covered ceiling providing the room with a soft blue glow revealing a dungeon like setting filled with an army of undead minions. Shifting her gaze from one object to the next she took note of the room. Along the far wall the Lich King stood wielding Frostmourne. A straight path between the two, or so it would seem. Her eyes shifted up taking notice of an eye floating around with an image of Vinsynt.
A glare formed in her eyes as she quickly shifted her focus back to the Lich King, fingers curling into a tight fist. “Release him. Now.” Her tone was more threatening than any other emotion she was feeling in that moment. She didn’t see the massive amount of undead that lay in her path. All she saw was the Lich King. “You dare challenge me?” He questioned with a soft laugh that in any other situation would have sent chills down her spine. She was more than daring to challenge him. Anger filled her eyes as she spoke in a firm, demanding tone, “You will not win this.” A surge of power filled her as her body tapped not only into her own power but that of her unborn child’s. Light gathered at her hand and forged itself into a blade as she readily took a defensive stance watching the scourges movements with golden eyes. One after another charged towards her and each were met with a swift strike of her blade falling into dust around her. “Is this the best you can do?” A smirk curved her lips as her wrist twirled her blade shifting her gaze to the Lich King who only motioned for more to attack her at once. Her body relaxed as a barrier formed around her while her left hand held the blade behind her near the floor while her right hand reached up and started to channel pure Light energy. The ground beneath consecrated from the tip of her blade as holy energy pulsed from her hand forming a sanctified wall between the scourge and her barrier. Wave after wave fell to her trap as her fingers tightened on the hilt of her sword. The few remaining were met with a swift stroke from her blade as she danced through the last of the forces that her eyes could see. Without hesitation she rushed towards the lich king, gold angelic wings erupting from her back as she leapt into the air and moved her blade to strike him in a downward strike. Her blade was quickly met with his in defense as she used every ounce of strength she had to push the blade to his throat. For a few moments she hovered there the wings holding her up before he effortlessly swung his sword sending her small frame flying through the air. As her body slammed against the far wall her blade fell from her hands and her breath escaped her instantly.
For a few short moments she had blacked out but when her body coughed reminding her she was still alive, she felt the cold sharp tip of Frostmourne against her neck. The sword started to glow as it instinctively leached on her weakened soul forcing her eyes to return to their natural fel-green tint laced with fear of what was to come. Her arms pushed herself to her knees as she coughed once again, blood trickling from her lips onto the frozen stone floor. “Kill me.” Her voice was low but loud enough for her plea to be heard as her gaze focused on the blood that had formed into a puddle underneath her. “Kill you? Now why would I do that?” A smirk curved his lips concealed by the plate helm of his armor as he moved away from her. “You’re more use to me… Alive.” Scourge magic formed chains around her wrists as her eyes lifted to watch the Lich King sit upon the frozen throne before catching sight of the eye from before. The image of Vinsynt wielding a large two handed runeblade took shape inside the tiny orb.
Vinsynt appeared in the city of Havenshire, the runes on his blade glowing intensely from the lich kings ‘gift’. A breeze pushed the dark strands of his hair away from his now icy blue eyes. Screams of terror could be heard in the air around him. “Scourge!” The peasant ran in pure fear before shadow magic wrapped around it pulling it towards him to be met with a swift strike of his blade. The body fell to the ground only to be transformed into a ghoul. The ghoul mindlessly charged into the crowds of people killing all that came in its path while a slow sadistic smirk curved Vinsynt’s lips as he continued his lust for blood. “Please let me live… I’ll do anything” A woman begged on her knees in front of him as his blade met with her neck. “Vin don’t!” Lina’s voice echoed in his mind for a short moment before she felt the chains drain her magic. “Kill or I’ll kill her.” The lich king’s voice whispered in his mind sending him an image of Lina bound by scourge magic. Vinsynt’s blade decapitated the peasant without a second thought.
“You don’t know what he’ll do to you if I don’t do this, Lina...” The words replayed over and over in her mind as her eyes closed unable to focus on the images any longer. Tears trickled down her cheeks as she felt her heart breaking, pain filling her chest to the point that it was happening to her physical body. Her eyes opened once more as her hand rested against her chest taking note of the draeneic room on the Aldor rise. “Vin…” She whispered softly as she forced herself to sit up, her hand trailing from her heart to her mid-section. “I won’t… I can’t let him win.”
